Lebanon Elections 2022
Welcome to The New Arab’s Special Coverage of Lebanon’s General Election 2022 to be held on May 15, 2022.
The vote comes on the back of the worst economic crisis in the country’s history that had prompted the October Uprising of 2019
While large segments of the Lebanese are calling for a boycott of an election being held under a divisive, controversial law and accusations of vote-buying and corruption, independents are set to make modest but unprecedented gains against established political parties accused of engineering the crisis through corruption and mismanagement over the past 30 years.
Thousands of Lebanese voters abroad will also cast their ballots in Lebanese embassies in select cities from May 6, 9 days ahead of the election in Lebanon.
This section will be updated daily in the run up to the election and in the period that follows, as results come in.
